AC Milan defender Kyle Walker will be out for an extended period after undergoing surgery on a fractured right elbow, the Italian club announced.
Walker, who reportedly sustained the injury on Tuesday, has immediately undergone surgery in Milan.
“AC Milan can confirm that Kyle Walker sustained a fracture in his right elbow today (Tuesday),” the club confirmed in a statement.
“To ensure better healing and optimise recovery time, the player underwent surgery in Milan to repair the olecranon through osteosynthesis. The operation went perfectly to plan. Kyle will begin rehabilitation immediately.”
The England international joined the Rossoneri from Manchester City in the January transfer window in a deal that could become permanent at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old has played 12 times for Milan this season, including making eight Serie A and two UEFA Champions League appearances.
Milan are currently at risk of missing out on European football next season as they sit ninth in the Serie A standings with 48 points after 31 games.
Sergio Concecaio’s men are nine points off the final Champions League spot with seven games left this season and will take on Udinese in the league on Friday.
