Former Chelsea forward Pat Nevin says that Mohamed Salah’s return for is a lift for Liverpool as they mount their challenge for the Premier League title.
The Egyptian winger has been struggling with fitness since he suffered a muscular injury while on duty with Egypt at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
He played only once since his return from the competition, scoring in a 4-1 league win at Brentford before having a relapse.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has however confirmed that Salah will be in the Reds squad for the Europa League Round of 16 tie at Sparta Prague on Thursday and feels good to have him back.
Salah returns at time when Liverpool are just two points clear of rivals Manchester City who they will face at Anfield. It makes Salah’s return very timely which Nevin says he might have benefited some rest by being on the sidelines.
“There are some players that miss a period of time and you think they’ll need a little bit of time to get back, but Salah is not one of those players,” Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast.
“If he is fit then get his legs going a little bit, let him enjoy it and feel good.
“It’s not just a lift for Klopp, it’s a lift for everybody at the football club because if you’re coming into this part of the season, and you’ve got him after a little rest, then that’s not bad is it?”
