Saka: New Arsenal milestone delights Anglo-Nigerian star

Saka scores in five-goal thriller as Arsenal beat Tottenham in 195th North London derby

Bukayo Saka is filled with delight after reaching a new milestone in Arsenal’s 3-2 win at North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s Premier League action.

The 22-year-old Anglo-Nigerian scored and assisted in the game to keep the Gunners in the hunt for a first Premier League title in 20 years.

Saka became the first Arsenal player to score both home and away against Spurs in the league since Alexandre Lacazette did so during the 2019-20 season.

He also increased his league tally to 15 goals this season which is a career high and a record for an English player since Ian Wright during the 1996-97 campaign.

“It’s nice to score home and away as an Arsenal guy, we love this fixture and to score here is nice – I’m buzzing,” Saka said.

“It’s a big relief, a big flow of happiness and to go over to the fans and celebrate like that it was enjoyable for sure.

“We’ve got three to go so we need to keep winning. It’s Bournemouth at home next, and we’re going to do what we can, focus on our game, win our games and see where it leaves us.”

Arsenal remain at the top of the table, one point ahead of Manchester City who have a game in hand.
