Bukayo Saka was on target as Arsenal defeated current UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu in Wednesday’s quarter-final second leg, Afrosport reports.
The Gunners had triumphed 3-0 in the first leg at the Emirates and it was the North London outfit that had the first opportunity to score when a penalty was awarded in the 13th minute.
Saka, who was responsible for drawing the two fouls that led to Declan Rice’s free kick brace in the first leg, had his penalty saved by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The 23-year-old England winger of Nigerian heritage however atonned for his miss by putting Arsenal ahead in the 65th minute with a sublime finish.
Real Madrid pulled one back through Vinicius Junior two minutes later and tried to forced a comeback but it was Arsenal that would have the door shot when Gabriel Martinelli scored from a tight angle in added time.
