The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed on Thursday that all the matches in the Valencia community this weekend have been postponed due to floods that have claimed the lives of over 95 people, Afrosport reports.
This means that the matchday 12 clash between Valencia and Real Madrid at the Mestalla initially scheduled for this weekend has been postponed after La Liga requested to move both first and second division matches in the region.
The RFEF has honoured the request from La Liga, announcing that along with the Valencia and Real Madrid clash, four other matches scheduled for this weekend, will not take place.
A statement from the Spanish Football Federation read: “It has been agreed to postpone matches that were to be played in professional and non-professional competitions, both in 11-a-side football and in indoor football [in the Valencia region].”

The postponed matches include Rayo Vallecano’s visit to Villarreal’s Estadio de la Ceramica, CD Castellón against RC Ferrol, CD Eldense versus SD Huesca, as well as the clash between Levante and Malaga.
During the week, the RFEF had already postponed matches in the Copa del Rey first round, including Valencia’s tie against Parla Escuela.
Tribute will be paid to the victims of the devastating flood as a moment of silence will be held across all matches in Spain this weekend.
