Chelsea right-back Reece James will be unavailable for Saturday’s fixture against Leicester City due to another hamstring injury sustained in training as confirmed by Blues manager Enzo Maresca, Afrosport reports.
The 24-year-old was unavailable for most of last season after undergoing hamstring surgery which was aimed at improving his reoccurring injury situation and was back on the pitch last month.
However there is no cause for alarm as Maresca indicated James will not be out on the long term.
He said per BBC Sport: “We have just one injured player and that’s Reece [James] who unfortunately felt something small in training two days ago and we don’t want to take a risk for the weekend.
“It’s a hamstring, muscular problem. We will see, we don’t know for how long, for sure [we want him fit for longer]. At the moment it is not happening but we hope it will happen soon.
“He is out this weekend but hopefully he can be back soon. It’s probably difficult that he can be available for the Conference League [next Thursday], but hopefully soon.”
Meanwhile, players with injury scares like Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill,Wesley Fofana,Malo Gusto and Romeo Lavia are all available despite not taking part in international duty.
But South American duo Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo might be unavailable due to precautionary reasons as Maresca might want to preserve them.
Chelsea are currently third on the Premier League standings, nine points behind leaders Liverpool.
