Record attendance watch Cameroon Elite One playoffs

It was a record-breaking start to the 2023 Cameroon Elite One playoffs as 27,634 people filled Stade de la Reunification for the games between Cotonsport and Gazelle, then Canon against Bamboutos on Sunday.

President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o alongside the country’s football great Roger Milla and representatives from the top sponsor of the Cameroonian top-flight, MTN Cameroon were in attendance in Douala.

It was a mix of entertainment that featured music performances and intriguing football action that produced four goals in two matches.

Defending champions Cotonsport started the day’s fixtures with a 1-0 victory against Gazelle, courtesy of Moussa Limane’s late strike in the final 10 minutes.

In the second game between Bamboutos of Mbouda and Canon Sportive of Yaounde, the former cruised to victory with two quick goals within the first 20 minutes, Canon attempted to pull a late comeback through Paul Henri Tchikeu who halved the deficit in the 83rd minute.

The next fixtures in the Elite One playoffs are scheduled for Thursday with Canon Sportive taking on Gazelle while Bamboutos have a score to settle against Cotonsport.

The winner of the 2023 Elite One championship playoffs will win the league title and will fly Cameroon’s flag in next season’s CAF Champions League.
