PL Roundup: Liverpool, Arsenal held at home; Nottingham Forest stun Aston Villa

Ten-man Liverpool dropped points at home for the first time since September following a 2-2 draw with Fulham at Anfield on Saturday in matchday 16 in the Premier League.

The league leaders went behind early as Andreas Pereira put Fulham ahead in the 11th minute with the Brazilian finishing off a superb team move.

Liverpool were reduced to 10 men six minutes later as Andrew Robertson was penalised for a foul on ex-Red Harry Wilson. The hosts, however, drew level two minutes into the second half restart as Cody Gakpo got on the end of a cross from Mohamed Salah, who registered his 100th assist for Liveroool in all competitions.

Fulham boss Marco Silva made some changes, and it paid off quickly as Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz put the Cottagers back in front in the 76th minute after being on the field for just eight minutes.

With the match winding down and a possible defeat on the cards for Liverpool, Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, who was playing his first game since returning from injury, drew them level with a close-range finish in the 86th minute to help the hosts salvage a point at home.

Elsewhere, at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by an inspired Everton side fuelled by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Meanwhile, it was a good day at the office for Newcastle United as Eddie Howe’s men recorded a 4-0 win against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City at St. James Park.

Jacob Murphy got a brace, and Alexander Isak, as well as Bruno Guimarães, were also on target for Newcastle.

At the Molineux, struggling Wolves, who were reduced to 10 men, lost 2-1 at home to newcomers Ipswich Town as Gary O’Neil’s side lost their fourth straight Premier League game.

An own goal from Matt Doherty gave Ipswich the lead inside the first 15 minutes, but Matheus Cunha restored parity for the hosts in the 72nd minute. However, a header from Jack Taylor in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time proved to be the decisive goal for the visitors, who ended their four-game winless run in the league.

There was more drama at the City Ground as high-flying Nottingham Forest came from behind to seal a 2-1 home win over Aston Villa in Saturday’s last game in the Premier League.

Jhon Duran put Villa ahead with his sixth league goal of the season, but Serbian defender Nikola Milenkovic drew Forest level, making it back-to-back games with a goal as his towering header was too much for Emiliano Martinez to deal with.

Substitute Anthony Elanga scored the winner in the 93rd minute to give Nuno Espirito Santo’s men the win, their second straight home victory in the Premier League.
