Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez, Egyptia’s Mohammed Salah and Morocca goalkeeper Yassine Bounou have been shortlisted in the Best African Player (international) category by organisers of Ghana Football Awards.
Osimhen has enjoyed a fine season in which his 26 goals in Serie A led Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years and helped him finish as the top scorer in Italy’s top-flight division as the first African to achieve such feat.
Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez is on the verge of winning a monumental treble as his side will go up against Italian giants Inter in the Champions League this Saturday.
The 32-year-old had 20 goal contributions for Pep Guardiola in the just concluded season- including crucial goals in the Premier League and in the FA Cup.
Despite Liverpool enduring a poor season, Mo Salah had a productive season in which he scored 29 goals and provided 13 assists for Jurgen Kloop’s side.
The two-time CAF African Player of the Year award winner also equaled and eventually bettered Robbie Fowler’s record as Liverpool’s top scorer in the Premier League.

Following his exploits at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Yassine Bounou finished the season on a strong note. He was the hero for Sevilla as they clinched a seventh Europa League title against Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma, a game in which he saved three penalties kicks after the final reached penalty shootouts.
Ghana Football Awards is an annual award scheme organized to recognize the best Ghanian players playing in and outside of the country and key stakeholders who contribute significantly to the game.
The winner of the awards would be announced in July at a special gala in Accra, Ghana.
