Nottingham Forest have announced that they have been given permission to increase the seating capacity of their stadium, the City Ground, Afrosport reports.
The club’s request received unanimous approval from the Rushcliffe Borough Council’s planning committee on Thursday, giving room for the current 30,000-seater facility to be expanded.
Foerst plans to demolish the existing Peter Taylor Stand and replace it with a 10,00-seater stand, which will increase the stadium’s overall capacity to 40,000.
“The Club is delighted that Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Planning Committee has approved our application regarding the redevelopment of the City Ground,” read a statement on X.
“We look forward to working closely with our partners on the next steps and will provide a further update in due course.”

Nottingham Forest’s quest to increase the seating capacity of the City Ground comes after they secured their Premier League status for the fourth consecutive season and will participate in Europe for the first time in 30 years in next season’s UEFA Conference League.
