NFF to reconstitute NPFL, NWFL, NNL and NLO boards

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has taken the decision to reconstitute the board overseeing the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the Nigeria National League (NNL), the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO).

The decision was reached at the executive committee meeting of the football governing body held in Abuja on Monday and will be carried out within the next one month.

The NPFL and NWPL are in the concluding phase of the regular season, with the battle to determine the leagues’ champions to follow in the playoffs.

The NNL has just commenced for the 2023 season while the NLO is yet to kick off.

The NFF, at Monday’s meeting, also praised the performance of the Flying Eagles at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations where they took home the bronze medal and charged the team led by Ladan Bosso to go all out and win the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina from May 20th till June 11th.

The Executive Committee was also pleased with the recent winning form of the Super Falcons where they claimed victories against Costa Rica, Haiti and New Zealand as they prepare for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Committee resolved to organise more grade A’ friendlies for the Nigerian ladies in Europe as well as a two-week training camp in Australia before the tournament properly kicks off on July 20 in Auckland.

The committee was, however, dissatisfied with the recent results of the Super Eagles and the U-23 team, especially the latter that failed to qualify for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations which was a path to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The committee also frowned at poor attitudes shown by players who get called up for national duty.
