Victor Osimhen is optimistic he will score his first goal for Galatasaray very soon after providing another assist in the Turkish giants 3-1 win over PAOK FC in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night, Afrosport reports.

It was the third consecutive match the reigning African Player of Year assisted in after doing so in league games against Rizepor and fierce rivals Fenerbahce.

Osimhen, who is on loan from Napoli, however stated that getting the three points was the most important thing for Galatasaray.

“….I feel it, my goal is very close. Most importantly, Galatasaray won. I also thank the fans. We need to keep winning in the league and in Europe,” the Nigerian forward told the club website.

Despite not finding the back finding the back of the net after three games, Osimhen is pleased with his contributions so far. He also praised PAOK FC for their resilience.

“…It is important for me to come into the team where they are full of quality to try and help and of course I’m still looking forward to having my first goal but of course my contribution so far to the team has been helpful and decisive, so for me, it is important to start well,” the 25-year-old added.

“And on today’s game, a big respect to PAOK, for their resilience, they gave us a tough time but I think we deserved this win and I’m happy we got it.”

Osimhen went on explain how he has been getting along with other forwards in the team such as Mauro Icardi and Mitchy Batshuayi.

“We have a very good relationship with Mauro Icardi. He is also a leader. Michy Batshuayi is a great character. I am very happy to be in Galatasaray. We help as a team. If I am not, they are. We will continue to win as a team” he stated.

The former Lille forward will hope his first goal will come when Galatasaray host Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday evening.
