Luka Modric is close to signing for Italian Serie A giants AC Milan on a free transfer, Afrosport reports.
The Croatian midfield veteran has ended his 13-year association with Real Madrid, where he scored 43 goals and provided 95 assists, winning 28 titles, including six Champions League and four La Liga. He was also crowned the Ballon d’Or winner in 2018.
The 39-year-old, however, left the Bernabeu without any piece of silverware in the 2024-25 season after losing to Barcelona in La Liga, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana while losing to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
According to Football Italia, Modric is set to sign a one-year contract with the Rossoneri worth €3 million with the option of a further year.
Meanwhile, Milan have reached an agreement to sell Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders to Premier League giants Manchester City for a reported €55 million.
The 19-time Serie A champions finished eighth last season, which saw them fail to qualify for any European competition for the first time since 2019.
It also led to the depature of Sergio Conceicao with former boss Massimiliano Allegri taking over.
