Mbeumo set to make Man United debut in final PL Summer Series match

Bryan Mbeumo is set to make his Manchester United debut when they play Everton in their final Premier League Summer Series match in Atlanta on Sunday, Afrosport reports.

The 25-year-old Cameroon international joined the Red Devils in a £71 million move from Brentford and is the club’s third summer signing after Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.

He has not featured in any of United’s pre-season games so far as he has been building up his fitness to match up with his new team-mates. Head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed he is now ready to play against the Toffees.

“He is going to play”, the Portuguese tactician told the media ahead of the match. “I’m really excited to see him play and what he can give to our team.”

Meanwhile, Mbeumo’s compatriot Andre Onana has not played any game in pre-season as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

There has been speculation about his future at Old Traffo but Amorim says the former Inter Milan shot stopper is improving, signifying he will remain at the club for the upcoming season.

“We are always looking to improve the team and we have some characteristics we would like to have. But it depends on the market and depends on sales,” he added.

“You can see the goalkeepers. Tom [Heaton] is leaner, Altay [Bayindir] did really well and [Andre] Onana is going to be better like the other guys that are getting better this year.”

United will conclude their pre-season against Fiorentina on August 9 before their big Premier League season opener against rivals Arsenal on August 17.
