Luton Town’s Osho gets maiden Nigeria call-up for Ghana & Mali games

2023-24 Premier League season: Awoniyi, Iwobi, Bassey & the other Nigerians to watch out for

Luton Town defender Gabriel Osho has been handed his maiden invitation to the Super Eagles for the international friendly games against Ghana and Mali.

The 26-year-old was born to Nigerian parents in Reading and has been one of the key players for Luton in the Premier League this season.

Osho plays with another Nigerian descent Elijah Adebayo who has indicated interest to play for the three-time African champions on the international scene.

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers and Tyronne Ebuehi make a return to the national team after a lengthy absence while Nathan Tella, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Tanzania-based Benjamin Tianimu join the rest of the AFCON 2023 squad.

Nigeria are currently without a head coach and they are looking to appoint a new leadership after declaring the position vacant on Friday.

Captain Ahmed Musa is a notable omission as he continues his search for a new club after leaving Sivasspor in February.

Nigeria will play Ghana on March 22 then face Mali four days later with both games taking place in the Moroccan city of Marrakech.
