Lookman: Nigerian forward scores as Atalanta reach Coppa Italia final

Semenyo: Ghana forward’s strike seals victory for 10-man Bournemouth

Ademola Lookman was among the goalscorers for Atalanta as they secured a 4-1 win over 10-man Fiorentina and a 4-2 aggregate victory which sent them through to the Coppa Italia final.

La Dea recorded a 1-0 loss in the semi-final first leg and needed to make amends in the return leg on home soil.

They did just that with Teun Koopmeiners giving them the lead in the eighth minute. Gianluca Scamacca thought he had doubled Atalanta’s lead five minutes later but VAR ruled it out for a foul in the build up to the goal.

The second half began with Fiorentina being reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute after Nikola Milenkovic was given a straight red card for a rough challenge. It still did not deter La Viola as substitute Lucas Martinez Quarta equalised in the 68th minute.

That was however how far Fiorentina could go as Atalanta took total control in the final 15 minuses of the match, starting with Scamacca finally getting his goal before Lookman made it 3-1 in added time with a brilliant finish after VAR review.

It was the Nigerian’s first Coppa Italia goal this season and third in the competition stretching back to last season. It was also his 10th goal in all competitions this term.

Lookman then turned provider as he assisted Mario Pasalic for the final goal of the game.

Atalanta will now face Juventus in the final on May 15.
