Bayern reportedly approach Atalanta for potential Lookman loan deal

German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have approached Serie A side Atalanta to take Ademola Lookman on loan, Afrosport reports.

The Super Eagles forward is looking to leave the Gewiss Stadium this summer after having a move to Inter Milan blocked by Atalanta who are not keen to see him play for a rival club in Italy.

According to The Athletic, the Bavarian giants are proposing to pay a big loan fee with the option of purchasing the reigning African Player of the Year at the end of the loan.

Bayern’s desire for Lookman comes after Senegal forward Nicolas Jackson’s loan move from Chelsea collapsed as the Blues opted not to proceed following an injury to new signing and striker Liam Delap.

A potential move to Bayern will see Lookman return to Germany having been on the books of RB Leipzig between 2018 and 2022, but it was not successful having played just 24 times, scoring five goals and providing four assists while also spending time on loan at Fulham and Leicester City, before joining Atalanta in a €15 million move that established himself as one of the most prolific wide men in Europe.

It culminated in him helping La Dea win their first-ever European trophy by scoring a hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.
