Liverpool on Friday announced the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from German club Bayer Leverkusen for a reported fee of €35 million, Afrosport reports.
Frimpong moves to Anfield on a five-year deal, replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold after it was confirmed that the England international will join Real Madrid earlier than expected for the Club World Cup.

“It went quite easy,” the Dutch international told the club media. “Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer.
“For me, it was like, ‘Whatever you guys do, just get this done’, [speaking to] my agents: ‘Just get this done.’
“Liverpool fans, I’m going to give my all, my energy, my work-rate and hopefully we can win together, we celebrate together, get everything together.
“I’m just excited to be here. Thank you guys for accepting me and I won’t let you guys down and I’ll give you the energy that you guys want.”
Frimpong, who returns to England, having played in Manchester City’s youth system, spent four-and-a-half seasons at BayArena, scoring 30 goals and providing 44 assists in 190 appearances.
He was a mainstay in the Leverkusen side that won their first Bundesliga title and went unbeaten in the 2023-24 season under Xabi Alonso.
The former Celtic defender, who can play as both a full back and wing-back, also won the German Cup in 2023-24 and the German Super Cup in 2024.
Frimpong played 48 times in the 2024-25 season, scoring five goals and providing 12 assists as Leverkusen finished second in the Bundesliga.
He becomes the fourth Dutch international at Liverpool, joining Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch.
