Liverpool manager Arne Slot is waiting to see the final goal tally Mohamed Salah will rack up at the end of the season, Afrosport reports.
The Egyptian superstar is tipped to have the best season in his career with 32 goals and 22 assists in 41 competitive games so far.
His best tally came in his maiden season at Anfield in 2017-18 when he found the back of the net 44 times in 52 competitive games and provided a further 14 assists.
Slot, speaking of Liverpool’s Champions League round of 16-second leg tie with Paris Saint-Germain, said it has gotten to the point he cannot keep up with Salah’s numbers because of how “incredible” he is.
“It’s outstanding. I think at the moment people almost stopped counting because he’s just doing incredible things and then in the end, we’ll just see the final numbers,” the Dutch tactician said.
“It’s for sure the player I played with, at least, the biggest season. The difference is so big, it’s like, let’s see the final numbers. Obviously, that helped us a lot because we know we can rely on him to do a lot of things – create chances, either scoring or assisting. Obviously, it’s good to have a player like that in the team.”
Liverpool hold a 1-0 lead over PSG from the first leg in Paris. While trying to overturn the deficit at Anfield will be difficult, Georgian sensation Khvicha Kvaratskhelia believes his team have a chance of progressing.
“The chances are 50-50 because I think to dominate against Liverpool is not easy and we did it [in the first leg]. We played very well. I think we showed great football. For me, the game will be 50-50 and we just have to concentrate on our game and to be confident and to show them that we are here just to win,” he said.
The winner of Tuesday’s tie will face either Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarter-finals.
