Kane reveals goals target for England

Harry Kane believes scoring 100 goals for the England national team is possible after he recently became the Three Lions’ all-time top scorer.

The 29-year-old netted from the penalty spot as England claimed a 2-1 win over Euro 2020 champions Italy in Naples during the Euro 2024 qualifiers last Thursday to move above Wayne Rooney on the all-time scorers list with 54 goals.

Kane took the tally to 55 strikes with another goal against Ukraine on Sunday and is now eyeing reaching a century of goals, though he acknowledges it will be difficult to reach.

“Getting 100 will be tough for sure, but I never count out anything,” the Tottenham Hotspur forward said.

“I am still young – I am 29, I am still fit and strong. I want to play for England for as long as I can.

“Every game there is I will be putting myself forward to try and play.

“We will take it step-by-step. The next step will be trying to get into the sixties.

“A hundred is not out of the question. It will be extremely tough but we will have to see how the next few years go.”

Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (122) and Iran legend Ali Daei (109) are the only players to reach a century of international goals.

Argentina maestro Lionel Messi is the next in line to score 100 international goals as he currently has 99 goals for the Albiceleste and could reach that milestone when the reigning world champions take on Curacao in Santiago del Estero on Tuesday night.
