Guirassy: How Guinea forward is closing in Mario Gomez’s goal record for Stuttgart

Emmanuel Dennis: Cleverley pleased with Nigerian forwards impact in Watford win

Sehrou Guirassy was on target once again as VfB Stuttgart recorded a 3-0 away win at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Enzo Millot put the Reds in front in the 16th minute before Guirassy doubled the lead in added time of the first half after being assisted by strike partner Deniz Undav.

It was the Guinea international’s 22nd league goal of the season which saw him level with Fritz Walter’s tally during the 1991-92 season. He is also three goals away from surpassing Mario Gomez’s tally of 24 goals during the 2008-09 season which is the most league goals scored by a Stuttgart player in a season.

The combination between Undav and Guirassy for the latter’s goal took their combined league goal involvements to 36 goals  this term which is just one behind Jurgen Klinsmann and Karl Allgower during the 1985-1986 season.

Jamie Leweling scored the third and final goal to hand Stuttgart their 18th win of the season which sees them maintain third place on the standings, four points behind second-placed Bayern Munich.
