Super Falcons forward Gift Monday is excited after scoring two goals for Tenerife in their 5-1 victory over Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga Femenino on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
Monday and her Nigerian teammate Rinsola Babajide, found the net as Tenerife celebrated their fifth win of the season.
After Deportivo took the lead in the 25th minute with a goal from Henar Muna Asla, Monday equalised for Tenerife in the 51st minute and then scored again in the 64th minute to make it 2-1, marking her sixth goal of the season. Babajide scored five minutes later, bringing her total to five goals this campaign.
With this win, Tenerife climbed to sixth place in the league, and Monday was thrilled about her contribution.
She expressed her excitement on X, saying: “Starting 2025 with a bang! Two goals in the first match of the year.”

Gift Monday had signed a three-season contract extension with Tenerife in September 2024, which keeps her at the club until 2027. ,
Now in her third season with the Spanish team, Monday has scored 18 goals and provided two assists in 65 matches since joining in the 2022-23 season.
