Cody Gakpo says it is a honour to match a Mohamed Salah record for Liverpool following Sunday’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Arsenal at Anfield, Afrosport reports.
The Dutch forward of Togolese heritage scored the opener with a header from an Andy Robertson cross after 20 minutes.
It meant Gakpo has scored in each of his last 10 starts for Liverpool at Anfield, making him the only player today to do so in the history of the club after Salah did between December 2017 to April 2018.
“Only two? So it’s me and Mo? That’s amazing to get a record like that,” the Dutchman said. “So maybe if I score in the last game of the season… I have to start, so hopefully I start!
“That’s an honour obviously to get that record – especially besides Mo, who has so many records. Amazing.”
