Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour will miss the rest of the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States after suffering a broken collarbone in the opening match Group A against Inter Miami on Saturday, Afrosport reports.

The 27-year-old was taken off after just 14 minutes at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens having gone down in discomfort holding his shoulder.

He was replaced by Zizo, who won a penalty for Al Ahly in the 43rd minute, but was missed by former Aston Villa forward Trezeguet.

“Medical examinations on Emam Ashour in a Miami hospital showed he sustained a broken collarbone, and he will miss the remaining matches in the Club World Cup,” Al Ahly doctor Ahmed Gaballah said on the club’s X account.

Ashour was the top goalscorer in the 2024-25 Egyptian Premier League, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists as Al Ahly won a record-extending 45th title.

They will face Palmeiras in East Rutherford in their next Group game followed by Portuguese giants FC Porto.
