The Football Association (FA) on Tuesday overturned the controversial red card awarded to Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly during their visit to Wolves on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
Lewis-Skelly was sent off in the 43rd minute at the Molineux Stadium by referee Michael Oliver for a late tackle on Wolves defender Matt Doherty.
Oliver had deemed the tackle “serious foul play”, as the Arsenal fullback caught Doherty above his ankle to stop a Wolves counterattack, and his on-field decision was backed by video assistant referee (VAR) Darren England.
The Gunners appealed the decision, and the FA rescinded the red card and three-match ban after an independent regulatory commission ruled in their favour.
“An independent Regulatory Commission has upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Myles Lewis-Skelly and removed his three-match suspension,” a statement from the FA read.

Lewis-Skelly will now be available for Arsenal’s next three games after the red card has been overturned. He will be available for selection in their league games against Manchester City (Sunday) and Leicester City (15 February), as well as next week’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Newcastle.
The Gunners are second in the Premier League with 47 points from 23 games, six points behind leaders Liverpool, who have played a game less.
They are in action on Wednesday as they head to the Montilivi to take on struggling Girona in the final matchday in the UEFA Champions League league.
