Everton relieves Sean Dyche of his duties after less than two years in charge

Everton have decided to part ways with manager Sean Dyche after recording a win in just one of their last 11 games, Afrosport reports.

Dyche was dismissed just few hours before Everton were to host League One side Peterborough United in the FA Cup on Thursday.

The Toffees have won just one of their last 11 Premier League games as they seat one point above relegation.

Furthermore, Dyche’s coaching team is also expected to exit the club however, former player Leighton Baines and captain Seamus Coleman will take over as interim coaches with immediate effect and will be in charge at Goodson Park against Peterborough as Everton seek permanent solutions.

“Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect,” said a club statement.

“Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the Club.

“The process to appoint a new manager is under way and an update will be provided in due course.

“Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.”

According to reports, Jose Mourinho and former West Ham United manager David Moyes are the leading candidates for the replacement.

Dyche has failed to make any progress since joining the Toffees in 2023.

Everton faced financial issues the following season and were handed a 10-point deduction (later reduced to six) for failing to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), although they still managed a 15th-placed finish.
