Nuno Espirito Santo began his stint as the new West Ham United manager with a 1-1 Premier League draw against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday night, Afrosport reports.
The Sao Tome and Principe-born tactician replaced Graham Potter who was relieved of his duty at the weekend.
The Hammers however went behind in the 16th minute when Michael Keane rose highest to head in James Garner’s cross.
The scoreline remained in favour of the Toffees until the 65th minute when Jarod Bowen curled in a left-footed shot past Jordan Pickford for the first goal Everton have conceded since moving to their new stadium.
West Ham mounted pressure late on for the winner but lacked composure in front of goal.

The draw still leaves West Ham second from bottom on the table but is considered a decent start for Espirito Santo, who will face another tough fixture away at Arsenal on Saturday before hosting London rivals Brentford at home after the October International break.
