DR Congo’s Wissa rues missed chances in Brentford victory

Yoane Wissa believes Brentford should have scored more goals in their 2-0 win over London rivals West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.

It was a game the Bees dominated from start to finish, Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo netting first in the 20th minute before Wissa doubled it two minutes to the half-time break from a throw-in.

Brentford had a total of 24 shots, 10 of them on target while the Hammers had just four in the entire game.

Regardless of the disappointment of not scoring more goals, Wissa was happy with the win and netting his sixth league of the season.

“It was a very good performance from everyone,” the DR Congo international said.

“We kept a clean sheet and should have scored more goals, but we take the win and the three points. I’m happy for the boys and I’m happy for the fans.”

“We know that we have to be aware on set-pieces and be switched on.

“I was happy for the team, and for myself as well, because I wanted to score. I know I can score from anywhere – either foot or my head – so I just need to be in the right positions.”

Brentford’s victory guaranteed them a top 10 finish with two games left to end the season. They occupy ninth position, four points behind Tottenham Hotspur in the race for European qualification next season.
