Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Joao Pedro from Watford for a reported club record £30 million.
The 21-year-old Brazilian moves to the Amex Stadium from Vicarage Road after a five-year deal was agreed last month and has now been completed with the summer transfer window officially opening. He scored 24 goals in 109 appearances for Watford both in the Premier and Championship.
Brighton technical director David Weir said Pedro’s signing will complement the Seagulls frontline.
“Joao has been a long-term target of ours and has also attracted a lot of interest from across Europe,” Weir said.
“He’s a brilliant young talent with an eye for goal. He will complement our existing forward line very well.”

Pedro joins Brighton as they prepare to compete in the UEFA Europa League next season after their impressive sixth-place finish in the Premier League, making it the first time in the club’s history they qualified for an European competition. They also reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup but lost on penalties to eventual runners-up Manchester United.
Brighton have also completed the signing of veteran English midfielder James Milner on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expired.
