Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, Afrosport reports.
According to BBC Sport, the 26-year-old, who is of Nigerian heritage, has a release clause worth £65 million but both the Lilywhites and Cherries are trying to negotiate a lower fee for the former Chelsea man believed to be £60 million.
Spurs are yet to find a replacement for record top scorer Harry Kane who left for Bayern Munich last summer for a fee reported to be €100 million.
Should the move materialise, Solanke would become Bournemouth’s most expensive sale, beating the £40 million reigning Premier League champions Manchester City paid for Dutch-Ivorian defender Nathan Ake in 2020 joined Bournemouth from Liverpool in the summer of 2019 and has scored a total of 77 goals and provided 31 assists in 216 competitive outings.
Solanke’s most productive campaign was in 2023-24 where he scored 21 goals, 19 of them in the Premier League which saw him finish as the fourth-highest goal scorer behind Erling Haaland (27 goals), Cole Palmer (22 goals) and Alexander Isak (21 goals).
Bournemouth will begin the 2024-25 season away at Nottingham Forest next Saturday while Tottenham will travel to newly-promoted Leicester City on August 19.
