Crystal Palace star Eze doesn’t regret picking England over Nigeria

Blow for Super Eagles as England call up Eze

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze confirmed that he does not regret his decision to snub Nigeria and play for England on the international scene.

Eze, born to Nigerian parents in London, has been a target for the Super Eagles since 2019, with former NFF President, Amaju Pinnick confirming a meeting with him during his time at Queens Park Rangers in the 20219-20 campaign.

The 24-year-old, however, got his maiden invitation to the Three Lions in May for their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.

The call-up quashed the hopes of representing Nigeria and the Crystal Palace midfielder has defended his decision as one of the best of his career.

“It’s the best decision. This is a great opportunity for me. It is the highest level of football. I regret nothing,” Eze told Sky Sports.

“You want to play against him, you want to be part of it, and you can see the quality of the team, where they are, the confidence they have playing, it’s incredible.

“It’s incredible ! That’s why it’s important to be part of this team. I got the call and felt it was the right decision to make, and I’m very, very happy to be here.”

Eze is in contention to make his England debut against Malta on Friday after enjoying his best form in the Premier League with 10 goals and four assists for Crystal Palace in the just-concluded campaign.
