CHAN 2024: Nigeria’s Super Eagles B get tough Group D draw

Nigeria’s Super Eagles B have been drawn in a tough Group D ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) slated to be held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, Afrosport reports.

The official draw for the tournament was held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, on Wednesday, to determine the groupings for the eighth edition of the CHAN.

The Super Eagles B are up against defending champions Senegal, who won the 2022 edition of the tournament, as well as Congo and two-time bronze medallists Sudan.

Meanwhile, Group A comprises co-hosts Kenya, 2011 runners-up Angola, 2009 bronze medallists Zambia, as well as DR Congo and Morocco, who have both won the tournament a record two times.

Group B has co-hosts Tanzania, Madagascar, who are bronze medal winners from the last edition, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.

Group C, however, includes co-hosts Uganda, 2020 bronze medallists Guinea, Niger Republic, and two open spots for the other qualified teams.

The 2024 African Nations Championship, which was initially scheduled to take place between 1-28 February, has been postponed to August 2025, with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to announce the exact date in due course.
