The Confederation of African football (CAF) on Wednesday unveiled a new logo and trophy ahead of the draw ceremony for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which is scheduled to be held in Kenya on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
A significant detail is the 54 distinct lines encircling the trophy, symbolising the 54 African nations united with a map of the continent at its core.
According CAF, it underscores the championship’s celebration of diversity and unity across the continent. Each line represents the foundation of African football, a pathway carved by passion and skill, and a tribute to players.
It also comes with a new CHAN 2024 trophy that combines gold and silver elements, representing the prestige and growing stature of the tournament.
The draw on Wednesday will be staged at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya, and will commence at 8pm local time (6pm Nigerian Time).
CAF on Tuesday announced that the CHAN 2024, the eighth edition of the tournament, which will be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, will now hold in August 2025.
The tournament, which is specifically designed for players in the domestic leagues across Africa, was initially scheduled to take place between 1-28 February.
