Madagascar finished the third at the 2022 African Nations Championship after beating Niger 1-0, courtesy of Jean Razafindrakoto’s late strike.
The Barea have been one of the standout teams in Algeria but their hopes of reaching a maiden final in the CHAN debut ended after losing 1-0 to Senegal in the semi-finals while the Mena lost heavily 5-0 to the tournament hosts Algeria.
In the bronze medal decider at Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran, very little separated both teams in the first half.
However, Madagascar upped the tempo in the second half, pulling the strings early on in the half.
Even though it looked like the game was destined for extra time, the floodgates opened in the 89th minute after Razafindrakoto fired in a deflected shot that fell into this path.
