A repeat of the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League final is set with Real Madrid drawn against Liverpool in this season’s round of 16 fixtures.
Real Madrid came out on top with a 1-0 win in May to lift the Champions League trophy in Paris, they finished at the top of their Group F while Liverpool settled for second place in Group A behind unbeaten Napoli.
The first leg of the round of 16 games will be played between the second and third week in February while the return fixtures will take place in the first and second week of March.
Another intriguing clash has been set with Sadio Mane’s Bayern Munich drawn against Lionel Messi’s Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City have a date with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, AC Milan will face Tottenham Hotspur while Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been handed a chance to return to the Signal Iduna Park for a clash against Borussia Dortmund.
Oth fixtures include Napoli taking Eintracht Frankfurt, Inter Milan against FC Porto and Benfica squaring up against Club Brugge.
Earlier this season, UEFA announced that a total purse of €2.032 billion is on offer for all teams in the Champions League, with the winner carting home €85.14 million in cash prize – an increase of €1.94 million from last season.
