The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday unveiled a new CAF Champions League trophy in partnership with headline sponsors, TotalEnergies, Afrosport reports.
The unveiling of the new trophy, held at the South African headquarters of TotalEnergies in Johannesburg, had notable African legends in attendance, including former South African internationals Lucas Radebe, Teko Modise and Siphiwe Tshabalala.
The new trophy features silver and gold lines as well as a golden sphere, which holds African symbolism as CAF continues to move towards the evolution of inter-club competitions on the continent.
“In line with the vision of the CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, we are rebranding and repositioning African football with a special focus on interclub competitions at the moment,” said CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba.
“This TotalEnergies CAF Champions League trophy reveal reflects our goals and bold steps toward an exciting African club football environment. With this, we aim to elevate the stature of African club competitions to global prominence, strengthen our commercial appeal, and inspire a new generation of footballing talent.”

South African club Mamelodi Sundowns will take on Egypt’s Pyramids in a two-legged final, with the winner set to make history as the first team to lift the new CAF Champions League trophy.
Sundowns, in their third CAF Champions League final, are aiming for a second title and will host Pyramids at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria in the first leg on Saturday, 24 May.
Both teams will then lock horns in the second leg on Sunday, 1 June, at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
