Al-Nassr sack coach Garcia amid reported feud with Ronaldo

Al-Nassr have confirmed the departure of their manager Rudi Garcia following heightened speculation about a dispute with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Saudi Professional League club confirmed through an abridged statement that the former Lyon boss has been shown the exit door on Thursday.

“Al-Nassr can announce that Head Coach Rudi Garcia has left the Club by mutual agreement. The board and everyone at Al-Nassr would like to thank Rudi and his staff for their dedicated work during the past 8 months,” the statement read.

Rumours of his sack escalated after their last match, in which Ronaldo stormed off the pitch into the tunnel after Al-Nassr played a goalless stalemate against Al-Feiha.

Reports suggest that the legendary Portuguese forward was unhappy with the tactical approach of his manager while Garcia also called out his players in the public, insisting he was not satisfied with their performance.

Croatian manager Dinko Jelicic will now take over as first-team coach.

Al-Nassr are currently second on the log, three points behind leaders Al-Ittihad and will return to action on Tuesday, April 18, in the Saudi Professional League against Al-Hilal.
