Chuba Akpom found the back of the net as Ajax defeated Groningen 3-1 at home on Sunday for back-to-back wins for the first time in the Eredivisie this season, Afrosport reports.
The Amsterdam giants played out a 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague on Thursday but were fully in control against Groningen with Davy Klassen giving them the lead in the 21st minute.
Though Jorg Schreuders levelled for Groningen in the 69th minute, Ajax were able to bounce back after Branco van den Boomen missed from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute with former Manchester United forward Wout Weghorst and Akpom scoring in the added time.
For Akpom, it was his second Eredivisie goal of season after scoring in a 5-0 bashing of Fortuna Sittard.
He has another three goals in the Europa League via a hat-trick scored in the 4-1 win over Jagiellonia in the final qualification round.
