Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn in Pot 1 ahead of the official draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Morocco, Afrosport reports.
The draw ceremony for the AFCON 2025 finals is billed for the Mohamed V National Theatre in Rabat on Monday, 27 January, at 7 pm local time (same as Nigerian Time).
The Super Eagles, however, have been placed in the same pot with the likes of hosts Morocco, seven-time winners Egypt, holders Cote d’Ivoire, two-time winners Algeria, and 2021 champions Senegal.
Nigeria earned a spot among the top-ranked teams due to their position at the last edition of the AFCON and position in the FIFA world ranking.
The three-time African champions were silver medallists at the last edition of the AFCON, losing to hosts and eventual champions Cote d’Ivoire at the Alassane Outtara Stadium in Ebimpe.
A statement released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Friday revealed that Super Eagles head coach Eric Chell will attend the draw ceremony alongside Team Administrator Dayo Enebi Achor and NFF Technical and Development Committee Chairman Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa.
AFCON 2025, the 35th edition of the tournament, will begin in Morocco on 21 December 2025 and end on 18 January 2026, making history as the first time the continental showpiece cuts across different years.
