AFCON 2023: Super Eagles group rivals Equatorial Guinea release final 27-man list

Nigeria’s group rivals at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Equatorial Guinea, released their final 27-man squad list for the tournament on Monday.

Head coach Juan Micha Obiang included record goal scorer and team captain Emilio Nsue Lopez, Italy-based midfielder Jose Machin Dicombo, and Las Palmas center-back Saul Basilio Coco in the team, while Cano Sports’ Jose Nabil is the only home-based player in the squad.

The Central Africans are set to partake in their fourth AFCON, and they will be hoping to perform better than their tournament-best fourth-place finish, which they enjoyed at the 2015 edition of the competition in which they were hosts.

Nzalang Nacional are drawn in Group A with Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Nigeria.

They will kick off their campaign on January 14 against the Super Eagles, take on Guinea-Bissau four days later, before locking horns with hosts Ivory Coast on Monday, January 22, in the final group game.
