The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia were held to a goalless draw in their Group D opening match against Denmark at the FIFA World Cup.
In the record-breaking encounter, 15 of the 24 shots attempted by either side in the game resulted from a corner kick – the most recorded in a single World Cup match since 1966.

In the stoppage time, Denmark were denied a penalty after referee Cesar Arturo Ramos decided to maintain his initial decision despite being advised to consult the Video Assistant Referee.
Copenhagen’s Andreas Cornelius came close to breaking the deadlock for the star-studded Danish side in the 94th minute as his close-range header managed to hit the post from a Jesper Lindstrom cross.
On the other hand, Tunisia’s best chance of the game came in the first half as Issam Jebali forced Kasper Schmeichel into a brilliant save. Jebali also had a goal rightfully ruled out for offside.
Aymen Dahmen was in inspiring form in goal for the North African side, joining Saudi Arabia’s goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais with five saves in the tournament so far.
Tunisia’s only loss in their last eight games building up to the tournament came against competition favourites, Brazil.
Jalel Kadri’s side boasts of a very compact defence, keeping seven clean sheets in the eight games.
Tunisia have recorded just their second-ever clean sheet at the World Cup after 16 games, a record that dates back to another goalless draw against Germany in 1978.
Tunisia will face Australia in their next game at the Al Janoub Stadium while Denmark will battle defending champions France in an evening fixture at the Stadium 974.
