Nigeria’s Falconets begin their quest for a place at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup when they face Rwanda in a second-round, first-leg tie in Kigali on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The Falconets are due to depart Nigeria on Thursday ahead of the clash, which will be staged at the Kigali Pele Stadium, formerly known as Stade Régional de Nyamirambo.
Nigeria, a two-time World Cup silver-medallists, having finished as runners-up to Germany in both 2010 and 2014, will be hoping to maintain their record of appearing at every edition of the tournament since its launch in 2002.
Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the officiating team for Sunday’s match. Sierra Leone’s Aminata Fullah will take charge as referee, assisted by Liberian Hannah Lydia Moses and Sierra Leone’s Fatmata Mansaray. The fourth official will be Love Tuu Wehyee from Liberia.
Militna Ivanete Amrie of Seychelles will serve as the match commissioner, while Amegee Aissata Ameyo has been appointed referee assessor.
