Done Deal: Crystal Palace sign Croatian Sosa from Ajax

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Croatian defender Borna Sosa from Ajax on a three-year contract, Afrosport reports.

The 27-year-old becomes the club’s second signing this summer following the arrival of Argentine goalkeeper Walter Benitez on a free transfer.

Sosa joins Palace for a reported fee between £2-£3 million, and adds experience and versatility to the Palace squad.

“I’m very excited to join Crystal Palace,” he told the club website. I’ve heard so many good things about the club. I cannot wait to meet the players, the staff, and all of the fans, because I’ve heard so many good things. I’m very, very excited to be here.”

The Croatian international, who joined Ajax in September 2023 from Stuttgart, made 25 appearances for the Dutch club.

He spent last season on loan in the Serie A with Torino, featuring 20 times. Despite his solid performances, the Italian club opted not to activate the option to make the deal permanent.

With 26 international caps and two goals for Croatia, Sosa played a key role in their third-place finish at the 2022 World Cup.
