Jordan Henderson set to join Brentford after Ajax exit

Jordan Henderson leaves Ajax officially on free transfer

Jordan Henderson is close to joining Brentford on a two-year deal following his depature from Ajax earlier in the week, Afrosport reports.

The 35-year-old English midfielder left the Dutch giants on a free transfer after agreeing to mutually terminate his contract that still had a year left.

According to reports, Henderson has had offers across Europe but favours a return to the Premier League in a bid to make the England team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

He left Liverpool two years ago for Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq before joining Ajax 18 months ago.

His career started with Sunderland, who are back in the England top flight after eight years, before moving to Liverpool, where he spent 12 years and won eight titles, including two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

Henderson’s imminent arrival comes as Brentford sold to Denmark midfielder Christian Norgaard to Arsenal.
