Senegal solidified their reputation as the most successful Beach Soccer African team after defeating neighbours Mauritania 6-1 on Saturday for an eighth Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) title, Afrosport reports.
The Teranga Lions reached the final by defeating hosts Egypt in the semi-final while the Lions of Chinguetti got the better of Morocco to reach their maiden final in their maiden BSAFCON outing.
The Mauritanians were however unable to match the Senegalese who scored three goals apiece in the first two periods.
It also marked the fourth consecutive title for Senegal with their eighth title putting them six clear of the next most successful team in Nigeria with just two titles.
Senegal and Mauritania will be Africa’s representatives at the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Seychelles.
