2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Sulemana & Thomas-Asante receive maiden Ghana call ups

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has called up Brandon Thomas-Asante and Ibrahim Sulemana for the first time as the Black Stars prepare to face Mali and Central African Republic in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

West Bromwich Albion’s Thomas-Asante was born in England and eligible to play for either the Three Lions, the Black Stars or Jamaica while Sulemana plays in Italy with Cagliari who were relegated from the Serie A.

Among the regular names called up were Tariq Lamptey in defence, West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus and Arsenal’s Thomas Partey in midfield and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo in the attack.

Ghana have one win and a defeat after two games in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and must find their winning rhythm to stand a chance of making it to the finals in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
