Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has provided an injury update ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying fixture against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
Chelle, while speaking to the media on Monday in Uyo, confirmed that there are currently no injured players in the squad and the players are raring to take on the Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
“All the players are ready,” Chelle said when asked about any possible injuries. “We had a good training session yesterday, and we will finalise our preparations this evening.”
The Malian will be in charge of his second game with the Super Eagles, having led the team to their first win in Group C against Rwanda last Friday.
With Nigeria lying fourth in the group with six points, four behind leaders South Africa, Chelle is eyeing back-to-back wins. The 47-year-old, however, acknowledged that Zimbabwe, led by German Michael Nees, will pose a tough test but added that his team will remain focused on clinching all available points.
“It won’t be easy,” added the former Mali international. “Zimbabwe are a good team, and we need to focus on ourselves.
The Super Eagles are just three points ahead of the Warriors, who occupy the bottom spot in the group, and the three-time African champions must record a win to put pressure on the top and continue their resurgence in a bid to secure a ticket to the World Cup.
