2026 WCQ: Brys names Onana, Mbeumo & Aboubakar to Cameroon squad for Eswatini, Libya

Marc Brys, Cameroon national team head coach, on Thursday announced a 27-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Afrosport reports.

Brys, who went for a mix of experience and youth, handed first-time call-ups to Porto and Borussia Monchengladbach forwards Dany Namaso and Nathan Ngoumou.

The 62-year-old Belgian recalled defender Joyskim Dawa for the first time since September 2021 and forward Ignatius Ganago, who last played for the Indomitable Lions in 2023.

Also in the squad are Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, Verona defender Jackson Tchatchoua, Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, and forwards Christian Bassogog, Bryan Mbeumo, and Vincent Aboubakar.

Brys, meanwhile, left out goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa, who was part of the Cameroon team that won the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, but included André-Franck Zambo Anguissa despite reports of a possible absence for the Napoli midfielder.

Cameroon sits atop Group D with eight points and will face Eswatini and second-placed Libya in this month’s World Cup qualifiers.

The Indomitable Lions will visit the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit to take on Eswatini on Wednesday, 19 March, before hosting Libya at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde on 25 March.
