Falconets head coach Christopher Musa Danjuma is confident his team can claim the women’s football gold medal at the 2023 Africa Games after progressing to the final.
The Nigerian ladies defeated Uganda 2-0 and will now face competition hosts Ghana on Thursday.
The Falconets and Black Princesses faced each other in last year’s WAFU B U-20 Championship final which the Ghanaians triumphed on penalties, and Danjuma says there is unfinished business against their West African rivals.
“We should have put away some of the chances we created in the first half, but we are happy to get two second-half goals and reach the final,” Danjuma said reflecting on Monday’s win against the Ugandans.
“It is an opportunity to retain our gold medal from the last edition in Morocco and we will do everything to win and make Nigerians happy.
“In as much as we are not thinking about revenge, we know that we have unfinished business with Ghana. Our primary objective is to retain our gold medal in the African Games and by doing that, we would have sorted out the unfinished business.”
