AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: Seven players arrive Nigeria camp for Sierra Leone clash

AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: Nigeria release 23-man squad list for Sierra Leone clash

Ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone next Sunday, seven of the 23 invited players have arrived at the Eagles training base in Lagos.

The Italy-based duo of William Troost Ekong and Ademola Lookman are joined by Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, and Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma, who all arrived today.

The remaining 16 players, which includes Napoli marksman Victor Osimhen, team captain Ahmed Musa and Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi, are expected to arrive on the shores of the country on Monday, June 12, as preparations for the crucial game intensify.

The Super Eagles currently top Group A with nine points from four games, and they were 2-1 winners in the reverse fixture in Abuja thanks to goals from Iwobi and Victor Osimhen canceling out Jonathan Morsay’s shocking opener.

The match against the Leone Stars will be played at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia, Liberia, on Sunday, June 18, as the home side does not have a suitable stadium in their country approved by CAF.

The game will kick off at 5pm WAT on Sunday, June 18, and you can watch it live on Afrosport TV on Free TV channel 730 and on VIDIVU
